Emotional Environment

Thoughts from a teen in the Huron Youth Diversion Program
“E.C. has very good qualities such as: schools, civic center, libraries, and churches. Even though there are good things there are even more bad qualities such as: drug dealers, drug users, gangs, abandoned homes, raggedy street, crookit cops. Many of these things truly and honestly are avoidable by taking pride in our neighborhoods. It upsets me because many people think E.C. is a forgotting an broken place; but it’s really teaming with life. Other people shouldn’t be scared to go in E.C. Our schools provide us with many opportunities and our band is unstoppable.”

Different streets means different gangs and different gang crimes on each other.

Graffiti

Picture of graffiti on the walls almost everywhere in East Cleveland. Another thing I don’t like.

Creative handprints on old food markCreative-handprints-on-old-food-mark

This used to be a market where you could get good food to make for dinner. It’s old and useless and has weeds growing up it. I don’t know when they did the hand prints but that looks nice. Since the building isn’t in use when you look at the building you see a good side. Kids have been creative. This building is located on Hayden Avenue and 6th Street.

Emergency ButtonEmergency-Button

I do like that in EC at the bus stop there’s an emergency button that show they really care about us.
